Steve Singh
Steve Singh is a Singer/songwriter from Toronto,
Canada. Singh has toured extensively in the States
and the UK and played with the likes of Ron Sexsmith,
Bert Jansch (Jimmy Page's favorite acoustic guitar
player), Kiki Dee (!), Jesse Malin, members of the New
York Dolls, members of REM, John Wesley Harding, and
tons of other people.
Steve grew up in the 80's in the heyday of Metal. " I
saw everybody. You name it. Iron Maiden, Scorpions,
Slayer. Everbody. My first concert was Black Sabbath
for the Born Again tour with Ian Gillan tour. Then
came punk and hardcore. Dead Kennedy's rocked my
world. Jello showed be that you could have intelligent
lyrics."
It was a natural progression toward the real
songsmiths: Elvis Costello, Stranglers, Billy Bragg,
Squeeze. "I loved how all these musicians could be
heavy without loud guitars. It was implied, not
obvious"
The obsession with the song took hold and there was no
turning back for Singh.
